The winner's podium at 5th Caribbean LaserMidwinter Regatta, which
ended yesterday in Cabarete Dominican Republic, couldhave been at the
Worlds, too. 1st  Place Gustavo Lima POR, 2nd Place Bernard Luttmer
CANand 3rd Place Diego Romero ARG.
For three days the wind blew an average of 18 knots withgusts
measured at 25 knots. At times the event that was sailed close to shorewith
hundreds of people watching close by, seemed like a Surfing contest
withLasers instead of Surf boards. $5,000.00 in prize money, was
distributed amongthe top three winners and first Overall Master.
1st Place Masters, Ari Barshi DOM with Mark BearUSA in close second.
1st  Place Grand Masters, Keith Wilkins GBR who has wonthe World
Masters title 10 times. 1st  Place Great Grand Masters Peter Seidenberg
USA.

The regatta organizer was the Laser Training Center, and the event
wasrun by the Dominican sailing Federation headed by PRO Andres
Santana.
